About Us

We produce the freshest and cleanest
(chemical residues and bacteria FREE)
American ginseng roots for you and our own health!

Based upon the latest laboratory analysis from a third party laboratory, our Wisconsin American ginseng roots contain no chemical residues (e.g. pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and etc). Some of you may wonder if we use chemicals at all? The simple answer is yes because of the extreme susceptibility of American ginseng to diseases (e.g. root rot and root rust).

So, how do we produce these clean and chemical FREE Wisconsin ginseng roots?

We follow strict Wisconsin chemical regulations for ginseng growers

Wisconsin is the only state in US to regulate the amount and type of chemicals permitted to be sprayed on ginseng farms. Among all the EPA registered agricultural chemicals, Wisconsin selects and only registers a number of chemicals that are deemed safe to spray. Most of these chemicals will break down faster and/or biodegrade.

This strict chemical regulation for ginseng growers set Wisconsin American ginseng apart from the rest of the ginseng produced by other states of America and countries. These countries include Canada, China, Korea ,and etc. Pesticide and heavy-metal contamination are safety concerns in many botanical products. The pesticides pentachloronitrobenzene (known as quintozene or PCNB) and lindane are not allowed for usage on Wisconsin ginseng crops because they are possible carcinogens that may also be toxic to the liver and kidneys, and may impair oxygen circulation in the blood. Another possible carcinogenic pesticide, hexachlorobenzene, has been banned from most food-crop use throughout the world. However, both quintozene and hexachlorobenzene have been found in some samples of foreign ginseng according to the independent analysis conducted by ConsumerLab.

We can NOT even buy the chemicals on the market if they are not registered by the state of Wisconsin. More importantly, Wisconsin constantly supports research on alternative, safe, and natural chemicals for ginseng cultivation.

FCF We are a licensed ginseng grower

Not only our ginseng farm is registered with the state of Wisconsin, but also, we must attend classes and pass the chemical regulation tests to be awarded with a license from the state. This license permits the farm owner to purchase and to spray any listed chemicals on the ginseng farm.

When the owner buys any chemical for the ginseng in a form of a spray he/she has to give the vendor his/her license number. Furthermore, the purchased product as well as its amount are recorded.

If we apply chemicals, we have to keep records of what we spray and when we spray, what field is sprayed, and how much is used. The FDA can come in and check our records at any time. FDA and local authorities randomly test our ginseng roots for chemical residues to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.

Here are the two elements that make us unique compare to other ginseng farms in Wisconsin in term of chemical application:

A) We only resource to chemical spray when it is absolutely necessary. When we do apply spray, we only use the minimal amount or below the recommended amount so that there will be no residues on our ginseng roots.

B) Additionally, 30 days before harvest, no spraying of any kind is allowed so as to eliminate any possible residues on our ginseng roots.

We practice "GREEN" farming

One additional reason for our clean ginseng roots is due to our years of practicing "GREEN" farming wherever possible. For instance, we do NOT use pesticides, rather we use DIATOMACEOUS EARTH, which is a natural mineral made from fossil shells. It is applied to control slugs and insects infestation.

Moreover, before planting ginseng, we carefully select a plot, and prepare it for the new crop. As you might know we can NEVER* (ever) grow ginseng on the same plot of land again.

Ironically, farmers, who grow common vegetables and crops (e.g. tobacco), are allowed to use many chemicals, which are prohibited to ginseng growers. Does this make sense? Imagine how many pounds of potatoes you consume, versus how many ounces of ginseng you consume a year. It is easy to see why our ginseng roots are safer and cleaner than most of the common crops you find in the market.

Practicing "GREEN" farming is our approach to stride beyond the strict chemical regulations of Wisconsin, in producing and ensuring the cleanest Wisconsin American ginseng products available to you.

We standby our ginseng qualities

Our laboratory analyses on heavy metals and chemicals (e.g. pesticides) are conducted in a third party laboratory. The latest test results on heavy metals analysis (e.g. ranging from arsenic, copper, lead, and mercury) and a long list of agricultural chemical analyses(e.g. pesticides) show that NONE of these chemicals were present in our American ginseng roots.

Additionally, we test our ginseng roots for bacteria (e.g E.Coli and Salmonella) prior to any processing.

We believe in the quality of our ginseng products. So much so that our mother (86 years young, now) and ourselves have been consuming our own ginseng roots, and ginseng capsules for over 20 years. We can not consciously be doing this if it would not be safe.

As you can see, when it comes to your and our own health we are extremely serious and devoted in growing the cleanest American ginseng. Your overall wellness is our reason to produce the cleanest and highly potent (average 13% of ginsenoside content) Wisconsin American ginseng products.
